Turmeric
Known as the golden spice of India, the turmeric found in our kitchens belongs to the ginger family. It has been a staple in South Asian cooking, traditional Natural herbs, and Chinese medicine for thousands of years. The compound responsible for most of turmeric's health benefits, as well as its bright yellow colour, is curcumin, which is an active ingredient in our Joint Health Capsules.
Health benefits
- Potent antioxidant that supports the immune system
- Anti-inflammatory
- Supports cognitive health
- Improves memory and mood
- Aids heart health
- Improves endothelial function and lowers LDL or bad cholesterol
- Supports digestive health by alleviating issues like IBS and indigestion
- Manages arthritis symptoms
- Reduce joint pain and swelling
- Helps with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Effect of Curcumin on Patients with Osteoarthritis & Joint Pain (A Meta-Analysis)
This study was designed to measure the effectiveness of Turmeric extracts (Curcumin) in managing joint discomfort and inflammation. The study included 606 patients diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis and compared the effect of daily Turmeric doses (180-2000 mg) against a placebo and common prescription pain relievers (NSAIDs).
The goal was to establish not only if Curcumin worked, but also how well it compared to established medical options.
Facts and Key Findings
- Pain Reduction (WOMAC): Significant improvement equivalent to diclofenac 100mg
- Significant enhancement in mobility and daily activities
- Significant reduction in morning stiffness when compared to the placebo
- Better tolerability than NSAIDs with fewer GI adverse events
- Moderate to large clinical significance across all pain measures

Tulsi
Known as Holy Basil, Tulsi is the most sacred plant in India, revered as the "Queen of Herbs" for its immense therapeutic potential. For centuries, it has been used to treat a wide array of conditions, but its greatest strength lies in its adaptogenic ability to address various forms of stress—physical, chemical, and psychological. It is rich in antioxidants and micronutrients, which help combat oxidative stress, and has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.
Health Benefits
- Acts as an adaptogen to regulate the body's stress response system.
- Lowers cortisol levels
- Boosts immune system
- Supports heart health
- Supports respiratory health (traditionally used to manage symptoms of common cough and cold)
- Manages blood sugar
The Clinical Efficacy and Safety of Tulsi in Humans: A Systematic Review
This randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial was designed to evaluate Tulsi’s effects on key markers of Metabolic Syndrome—a cluster of conditions often driven by chronic inflammation and poor stress response.
The study involved 100 adults (aged ≥40) and measured the effect of consuming 5 mL of aqueous Tulsi leaf extract daily for 12 weeks against a placebo. The results validate its profound regulatory effect across the entire body.
Key facts and findings:
- Significant improvement in fasting blood glucose levels.
- Led to reductions in blood pressure and comprehensive improvement across all lipid profile parameters (cholesterol/triglycerides).
- Demonstrated a remarkable 35.8% reduction in HbA1c (the 3-month average of blood sugar) when used as adjunct therapy.
- Tulsi's adaptogenic role was confirmed by its ability to modulate the HPA axis, which is crucial for lowering stress hormone (cortisol) levels.
- Confirmed its role in addressing lifestyle-related chronic conditions, reinforcing its status as a holistic regulator.

Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha, also known as "Indian Ginseng," helps the body adapt to stress and has been used for over 3,000 years. Its role in reducing stress, anxiety, improving sleep, and boosting cognitive function is undisputed. It is also associated with benefits for physical performance, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels, and has shown promise for some inflammatory conditions.
Health Benefits:
- Reduces stress and anxiety
- Acts directly on the stress response system (HPA axis) to foster emotional balance.
- Clinically proven to reduce the body's primary stress hormone, cortisol
- Calms the nervous system, supporting deeper, more restorative sleep.
- Increases the levels of DHEA-S and testosterone in men, supporting vitality and energy.
- Improves memory, concentration, and mental clarity.
- Associated with increased muscle strength and endurance.
Role of Ashwagandha in Stress Relief and Hormonal Support
The following two randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials collectively demonstrate Ashwagandha's profound effect as an adaptogen.
Study 1 (60 days, 60 adults) focused on high-stress individuals, measuring reductions in anxiety and the stress hormone cortisol.
Study 2 (16 weeks, 57 aging males) focused on hormonal vitality, specifically measuring the impact on testosterone and DHEA-S levels in addition to overall stress markers.
Together, the findings validate Ashwagandha's ability to help the body resist stress while promoting hormone balance and energy.
Facts and Key Findings
- Demonstrated a significant reduction on the Hamilton Anxiety Scale and reduced overall perceived stress and depression scores.
- Showed a significant reduction in the primary stress hormone, morning cortisol, validating the anti-stress mechanism.
- Led to a 14.7% increase in Testosterone and an 18% greater increase in DHEA-S in aging male participants when compared to the placebo group.
- Confirmed a greater reduction in overall DHEA-S (linked to vitality) in stressed adults.
- Both studies reported that the Ashwagandha extract was well-tolerated with zero adverse events.

Amla
Amla, or Indian Gooseberry, is a fruit revered in Ancient herbs as a Rasayana (rejuvenator), known for being one of nature's richest sources of Vitamin C and potent antioxidants. Its benefits include boosting immunity, improving heart health by managing cholesterol and blood pressure, and enhancing skin and hair quality. Amla also helps with digestion, regulates blood sugar, supports eye health, and possesses powerful anti-inflammatory properties.
Health Benefits:
- An exceptional source of antioxidants [high levels of Vitamin C and polyphenols]
- Clinically shown to manage cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure, reducing cardiovascular risk.
- Enhances hair and skin quality
- Supports collagen production
- Boosts immunity
- Aids digestive health
- Helps with digestion, reduces acidity, and manages blood sugar regulation.
- Unlike some pharmaceutical interventions, Amla helps preserve the critical coenzyme CoQ10, vital for heart function.
Role of Amala in Lipid Profile Improvement
This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was designed to evaluate the powerful effect of Amla extract on lipid parameters and cardiovascular health. The study involved 98 adults diagnosed with dyslipidemia (abnormal lipid levels), a major risk factor for heart disease. Participants received 500 mg of Amla extract twice daily versus a placebo for a period of 12 weeks.
Facts and Key Findings:
- Demonstrated a significant reduction in total cholesterol, LDL-C (bad cholesterol), Triglycerides, and VLDL-C
- Achieved a dramatic 39% reduction in the Atherogenic Index of Plasma–a key indicator of cardiovascular risk.
- No reduction in vital CoQ10 levels throughout the study, a critical advantage over certain synthetic drugs that deplete this heart-essential coenzyme.
- Led to an improved ApoB/ApoA1 ratio, another key marker for predicting heart disease risk.
